Just-In-Time Costume Wardrobe Creations

As the clock ticks closer to dusk, it’s time for the little ghouls and ghosts to rise from their slumber to play. Door to door, these little ghouls wander, trick-or-treating for sweets to satisfy their appetites. If you don’t have a proper Halloween costume to welcome these little candy hunters, never fear, here are some last-minute costume ideas anyone can create.

Ahoy Matey! It’s a Pirates Day for Me: Pirate Costume

Are you ready to dress up like you’re about to conquer the high seas on your trusty ship? From frilly button-up shirts to old boots, you can use different pieces of clothing (old or new) to create this costume. Wearing a striped shirt, vest and a pair of fancy breeches (pirate pants!) makes you the perfect crewmate! Craft a hook from cardboard to accessorize, an eyepatch for the ship’s captain and a belt to hold your trusty sword!

Boo! Did I Scare You: Ghost Costume

To become a spooky ghost, all you need is a big white sheet (big enough to cover you from head to knee) and a pair of trusty scissors. Cut two holes into the middle of the sheet for your eyes, lay the sheet over your head, and voila, you’ve become a ghost! To make your ghost more fashionable, you can add accessories like a stylish pair of sunglasses! Now you’re set to scare your fellow trick-or-treaters!

Beware of the Fairy Dust: Fairy Costume

Get ready to spread magic, laughter, and pixie dust! Being a magical fairy means you will need your own custom fairy outfit and a pair of wings. Wear your best tutu or your favorite PJ pants! Create your own wings out of thin fabric (bonus if shiny) and wires. Start by bending your wires into your desired fairy wing shape and cutting out the fabric to cover the wires. Using a hot glue gun (be sure to ask a parent or guardian for help), glue the fabric to the wires carefully. When it’s all dried, you can paint it with sparkly paint to add even more shimmer! Make sure to add two straps to attach your fairy wings to you! Now, it’s time to create your own fairytale in the land of lollipops!

It’s a Stinging Tale: Jellyfish Costume

What’s a jellyfish’s favorite game? “Sting Pong!” These majestic underwater creatures are the perfect pick for a fun last-minute Halloween costume. For this costume, you will need some shimmery fabrics, paper, ribbons and a clear umbrella. Using shimmery fabrics and ribbons, cut strips of different lengths and sizes and attach them to the bottom of the clear umbrella. You can customize your jellyfish with different art supplies. When you’re done, your umbrella should have a jellyfish-like silhouette. Add some light-strips or fairy lights inside the umbrella to make it glow!

Yee-haw in the Wild West: Cowgirl/Cowboy Costume

Come on down to the saloon, lads and lassies! Grab your cowboy hat and saddle up your steed because it’s time to ride into the wild west. This cowboy costume is simple and fun to put together. All you need is a cowboy hat, your favorite pair of jeans, a matching flannel, and boots! You can add a bandana, a pair of DIY chaps and a vest to spice up the outfit! Make sure to grab your lasso on the way out to the trails of candy!

Now you have a couple ideas for a last-minute costume, just in case you run out of time. Add your own sparkles to these costumes and make them yours! Make sure to look both ways when crossing the street this Halloween, stay safe, and don’t eat too much sugar.
