Which Halloween Candy Reigns Supreme?
Halloween comes with plenty of important decisions. Scary costume or silly costume? Carve the pumpkin or paint it? Start trick-or-treating before dinner or wait until the sun goes down?
But there’s one debate that can divide even the closest of families: What is the best Halloween candy?
Everyone has a favorite. There’s the candy you hope lands in your trick-or-treat bag, the one you immediately try to trade away, and the one you conveniently “inspect” after the kids go to bed.
This Halloween, we’re settling the debate the only reasonable way we know how: a Halloween candy bracket.
Meet the Sweet Eight
We’ve selected eight popular Halloween candies for our head-to-head competition. The rules are simple: Pick your favorite from each matchup and keep your winners moving until only one candy remains.
Here are this year’s contenders:
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Chocolate and peanut butter. It’s a simple combination with a very loyal following. Reese’s enters the bracket as an early favorite, but anything can happen in October. - Kit Kat
Crispy wafers covered in chocolate make Kit Kat a Halloween bucket staple. The real question: Do you break off each piece or just bite right in? - Snickers
Chocolate, caramel, peanuts, and nougat give Snickers plenty to work with. It’s practically a snack disguised as Halloween candy. - Twix
Caramel. Chocolate. Twix brings three layers to the competition—and that’s before anyone starts debating left Twix versus right Twix. - M&M’s
They’re colorful, chocolatey, easy to share, and nearly impossible to eat one at a time. M&M’s may be small, but don’t underestimate them. - Skittles
Chocolate doesn’t get to have all the glory. Skittles brings a fruity wildcard to the bracket for anyone whose Halloween bag needs a little more color. - Starburst
Another contender for Team Fruity, Starburst comes with an additional debate built right in: Which flavor is the best? Pink fans, this is your moment. - Sour Patch Kids
First they’re sour. Then they’re sweet. And now they’re trying to become Halloween candy champions. Sour Patch Kids give the bracket something completely different from the chocolate-heavy competition.
